We spent our 5th wedding anniversary driving through the mountains. A watercolor surely could never capture the amazing presence of the Rocky Mountains. It is something everyone MUST see for themselves. We drove the highway from Edmonton out to Jasper, then south through the mountains to Banff. At the start of the trip we were in t-shirts and jeans, we saw big horn sheep as they lazily walked on the road in front of the cars. We drove along the highway as the small mountains and valleys grew larger and larger. It grew colder and we put on a second shirt. When we reached the ice shields, we walked on the toe of a glacier, briefly because the air was bitter and my fingers were freezing when trying to snap pictures. luckily we had packed gloves and hats in the truck. We spent a couple nights in Canmore. We climbed up a mountain pass in our truck. We met a dog sledding team and enjoyed a hot chocolate with them.
